Smallpox is a very contagious and serious illness caused by variola major and minor viruses. Smallpox spreads very easily from person to person.

Signs and symptoms:

The rash shows up as blisters on the skin that fill with fluid and crust over.

• Fever
• Headache
• Backache
• Fatigue
• Pus filled blister (bumps are filled with a thick, opaque fluid and often with depression in centre)

When the infected person's spits, coughs, talks, or sneezes small pox spreads to other children’s.

Smallpox may be contagious during the initial phase, but is most infectious during the first 7 to 10 days following rash onset.

2. Bed rest
3. For itchy rashes cool baths or calamine lotion may help to manage the itching
4. wash their hands frequently (before eating and after using the bathroom)

Prevention:
